Good Weekend

I am so ready for Spring. Today is the first official day, but I guess you could say we started the celebration off on Friday with St. Patrick's Day.

Robin got off work early so we took advantage and went all over town. Target, Costco, The Mall.

I still haven't remembered to go by Sprint and pay my bill though, so I can't send photos until tomorrow. (Depending on whether I remember to actually go by the Sprint store.)

I managed to go by a few garage sales again on Saturday. Over the last two weeks I have gotten two new dressers, a coffee table, and a set of golf clubs. My total is up to $25.

Now if I can only find time to repaint the dressers.

I am having too much fun heading out to Tucannon again.

The big ones aren't really biting yet, but I have caught more small ones than I can even remember to count. Dad only missed it by a week.

We'll have to hit some spots in Oklahoma next month. Of course I am now determined to get Dad up here in late May. (Memorial Day weekend would give us three days to work with, hint-hint.)

Fishing Again

Well, we didn't catch any fish when my dad was in town.

Why should we start now?

On Saturday we piled into our little Hyundai and head east too the Blue Mountains.

It was our first trip to the Tucannon trout lakes of the year. (Last summer we went out there at least a dozen times.)

Since the logging slows down quite a bit during the weekends, we were able to drive all the way through to our favorite spots and look around.

The 50,000 or so acres that were lost to last summer's wildfires will really be missed. Last year I used several trees as markers to find my way around, but they are all gone now.

I was really lost. Which is odd because now that the main valley is wide open in places that once had trees so thick you couldn't see the moutains on either side.

As we drove through as much of the area as we could without the 4x4, I realized how much I had come to really love it.

Call me a tree hugging hippie all you want, but I kind of feel like I have lost a group of friends.

I Want A Big GMC

That Yukon was really damn nice.

I just can't get used to driving the Accent now.

Oh well.

Last week felt like a vacation and driving around with everyone in one vehicle was really nice once we weren't packed so tight.

I could get used to the valet, too.

Of course, as trashed as our little Accent gets on long roadtrips it would be rather embarrassing having someone else parking the trash can on wheels.

At least the Yukon just looked a little cluttered.

The tinted windows made it easier for the girls to sleep during the day. I may have to do that to the Accent before summer hits. Last year the girls were always trying to sleep while we were heading back home on Sunday evenings as the blinding sunset hit their eyes.

I can't remember how many of those expensive, but ultimately useless, window blinds with suction cups or static cling Dora designs we went through last summer.
